Cannot send mails to outside domain in Exchange server 2007

Scenario

 

Cannot send mails to outside domains, but can send mails to internal users. While sending the mail the following error will come.

 

 

 

  

 

Solution

 Distribution groups in Exchange 2007 Server are secure by default. It means only internal Active directory users can send an email to a distribution group, even if the group has a proper email address.

  To resolve our case

 

  • Open the Exchange Management Console.

 

 

  • Expand Recipient Configuration

  • Click Distribution Group. Double-click the distribution group that you want to allow external users to send to.

 

 

  • Click Distribution Group. Double-click the distribution group that you want to allow external users to send to.

 

 

 

 

  • Click the Mail Flow Settings Tab
  • Go to delivery restriction, There will be a check box next to “require all users are authenticated”.

 

 

  • Uncheck the box, so that external users can send email to the group.
