Sometimes you will find that in Windows Media Player12 (WMP12) the music file is showing 0 bytes for its size but it can still play without any problem.



Here are very easy steps to fix this issue:

Go to Start, type services.msc in the Search field, and press Enter.



In Services, find the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service.



If its status is Started, double-click the service and click Stop.

Click Apply/OK.



Now open WMP12, go to Tools, Scroll down to Advanced and finally click Restore media library...

Close WMP12.

Again open WMP12, go to Tools, Scroll down to Advanced and this time click on Restore deleted library items...

Close WMP12.

Once again go to Start, type services.msc in the Search field, and press Enter.

Locate Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service.

Double-click the service and click Start.

Click Apply/OK.

Now open WMP12. You will find it is showing the correct file size.





For Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 Preview

Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, and then click Search.)



In the Search type in Services.

Click View local services to launch Services.

Rest of the steps are identical to the steps as described under Windows 7.
